Preparation

Ingredients for Braised Australian Beef Cheeks in Red Wine:

  1. Australian beef cheeks: 2kg
  2. Cooking oil: 4 tablespoons
  3. Flour: 3 tablespoons
  4. Celery: 2 stalks
  5. Carrot: 1
  6. Onion: 1
  7. Salt and pepper
  8. Butter: 30g
  9. Red wine: 1 small cup
  10. Broth: 1 liter (either bone broth or vegetable broth)

Instructions:

  1. Cut the beef cheeks into evenly-sized cubes, suitable for serving.
  2. Coat the beef cubes in flour by placing them in a bowl and tossing until fully covered.
  3. Peel and wash the carrot, onion, and celery, then finely chop them.
  4. Heat a pan over medium heat, add the cooking oil and butter. Once the oil is hot and the butter has melted, add the chopped vegetables. Cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  5. Add the beef to the pan and stir-fry for about 15 more minutes, ensuring the beef is seared evenly.
  6. Once the beef is browned, pour in the red wine and stir well to combine.
  7. Finally, add 1 liter of broth, season with a little salt and pepper, then cover the pan. Simmer on low heat for about 60-90 minutes until the beef is tender. Serve and enjoy.
